    From the Secretary

Happy Birthday to These September Brothers:
Gary A. Bowers; John R. Howell; John C. Mullaney; William New PM.; Richard A. Rider; Maurice C. Turner; and Robert J. Vogt.
    Congratulations Brothers

Where has the summer gone, what crazy weather this summer has brought us, so much heat.

Please send this office any significant changes, Phone number, address, spouse, that you may have, so that I can keep the records updated correctly. We do maintain a Widows list, and have been sending the regular newsletters to them, along with notices of special events throughout the year.

In Two years at the outside, Howell Lodge will be needing a new Secretary, If there is anyone who may be interested in taking over this office, in a year or two, and would like to see what this office entails, I would be happy to take the time to go thru all the things that are important to the preservation of the History of this Lodge as it unfolds.

Just to be forewarned, It is not just sitting there growling at a new master, or any of the line officers, there are many things that have to be done in a timely manner, along with a keeping a reasonable agenda and flow to the Business meetings, keeping accurate minutes of the actions of the Lodge at Regular and Special meetings, sending of dues notices, receiving and recording of the dues paid, and crediting the proper brothers to name a few. A good understanding of the Blue Book, and regular reviewing is an absolute must.

The Secretary does not have the option of ignoring any requests for information from Brothers, or their family members, or filing communications in the circular file, or ignoring Grand Lodge Communications.

The very most important of all the things to do is to be prepared to complete the Annual Report to Grand Lodge in the prescribed time, and to be accurate.

    Respectfully and Fraternally,
    William New PM.
    Secretary
